Siskiyou County Government urges you to read this before you buy land or move here:
Code of the West

Governing Documents

Are you planning to camp on your MSVPOA parcel?

I usually like to see non-resident property owners and their families enjoying camping on their properties. Many community members do not feel that way. Local residents have some very valid concerns about people camping on their properties. While it is your property and you have a right to camp there, what you do while you are here does affect other property owners, especially full time residents. Some campers have even put the health and safety of the entire community at risk.

Here is some information from the Siskiyou County official web site regarding camping on your property:

Siskiyou County Municipal Code, Title 3 Chapter 17 sections 1 & 2 (quoting):

Sec. 3-17.01.  Camping outside designated campgrounds.
Camping outside of designated campgrounds either in a recreational vehicle or other shelter or means is allowed for a cumulative period not to exceed thirty (30) days in one calendar year.
(§ II, Ord. 06-06, eff. May 11, 2006)

Please utilize a camp toilet or other sanitary means of disposing of waste. If you leave trash behind and it blows off of your property you can be cited for littering.

Coyotes, mountain lions, bob cats, rattlesnakes, hawks, eagles, owls and bears are known to hunt in the area. Learn how to avoid attracting predators to your camp site and how to protect yourself, your children and pets.

Do not allow your pets to run free. Please read the Code of the West before visiting the subdivision.

Solar ovens are fun and easy to use and do not cause fires. Consider purchasing and using a Sun Oven for cooking while you are here. Click here for more information http://reelmowersetc.com/global_sun_oven.htm These ovens are also a great addition to your emergency preparedness kit and are a great teaching tool for children. They do not require expensive fuels or produce air pollution.
